This book is me stepping out of my comfort zone and trusting myself to try something different. I have never written a story like this before. The tone, the heat, the layers, all of it required me to stretch as a writer, to quiet the fear, and to jump straight into a narrative that demanded boldness. I did not want to play it safe. I wanted to grow. I wanted to create an experience.
That is why Sweet Nectar has no synopsis. No roadmap. No expectations. I want readers to open this book blindly and let the story take over, page by page, scene by scene, breath by breath. I want the surprises to hit you the way they hit me while writing. I want the tension, the heat, the emotion, the complexity, to unfold naturally without warning labels.
This book is a collaboration of love, risk, creativity, and trust in my wife, in my characters, and in myself.

Brown allows readers to form opinions before giving them all the information needed to make those opinions fairly. Small details throughout the story suggest something deeper is happening, but he does not rush to explain them. Once the larger picture becomes clear, earlier moments begin to carry a different weight.
I will leave the major turn in the story alone because discovering it is part of the experience. I will say that it gives Sweet Nectar an emotional dimension I was not expecting when I started reading. It also forces the story to become more vulnerable at the exact moment when it could have continued relying on chemistry alone.
That choice made me think about how often we judge people by the part of themselves we are allowed to see. We observe behavior, create explanations, and assume we understand someone without knowing what is happening beneath the surface. Brown builds that same instinct into the reading experience.
For a novella, Sweet Nectar takes an interesting risk. It gives you the erotic story you expect, then asks you to look beyond it. By the end, the sensuality still matters, but it is no longer the sole reason Ellis and Nectar matter.
Sweet Nectar is provocative, intimate, and unexpectedly moving. Lamartz Brown entered the erotic fiction genre without letting it limit what he could explore. Desire may be what introduces Ellis and Nectar to us, but vulnerability is what allows us to understand them.
I did not know what to expect when I opened the book since no synopsis was provided so when it first opened up, I was like well damn this is how we starting. I was side eyeing the MMC at first because I was like sir, you are behaving very reckless. Once the FMC was introduced into the story, I was intrigued with her character and wanted to understand more what her sort of obsession was almost with the MMC. There were some little nuggets thrown in by Lamartz that helped me figure out who the FMC was which I appreciated as well. As the book unfolded and we got to the second half of the book, it almost felt as if it were two books in one. The first half definitely hit on the erotism while the second half tapped more into the emotions and vulnerability of the characters. We got more of the story behind them and the nature of their relationship which kind of tied the two parts of the book together. I enjoyed reading the MMC and FMC in both elements and I thought the ending was cute. I liked how this story was written overall and how even though it was an erotic novella we still got a storyline and it wasn't just about the sex. It was engaging as well because as a reader it had you wanting to see where it was going to go.
This is the first erotic novel for Lamartz Brown and it’s a sexy book! The story follows two characters by the name of Ellis and “Nectar” who meet in New Orleans and what transpires between is nothing but pure unadulterated spicy ass fun! Some of the scenarios they seem to get into will have you wondering can these things be done in real life and have you thinking that maybe you should be doing some of this stuff! lol! Their chemistry is undeniable and raw a when those two things are there it makes the imagination fly free!😜 There was a very interesting twist in the plot and it added another level of depth and vulnerability that you sometimes might not see in an Erotic book but it made the book even more better! I hope Lamartz continues to dabble in this genre because I would love to see what other sensual and seductive stories he maybe can tell! Overall I give this book a rating of 4.5!

Lamartz Brown writes with the kind of sharpness that sneaks up on you like a good drink. From the very first paragraph, the story grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go. His writing is bold, unapologetic, and doesn’t care anything about following the “rules” of how you think stories are supposed to unfold. I love that about this story. That’s exactly what makes it so hard to put down.
And trust me, I’m keeping this intentionally vague because I refuse to be the one to mess up the experience for somebody else.
Just know this book is a ride 😜
