A'shai Blaze: Sneak Peek

A Stone Cold Love Story

Intro

The power I held over people while death was knocking resonated with me. I looked forward to blood leaking and the pleas that came along with it. That was how I was built, manufactured that way by my reality. I was willing to give this new life a chance, but as soon as I needed to feed the beast, I was going hunting.

“Yo, y'all baby gonna have a big ass head,” I joked, grateful that at least one of us walked away

whole.

“Let’s fight, yo.” Mega and I both got in our slap boxing stance, laughing and joking,

realizing for the first time that we could finally breathe.

While Mega was done with the streets, I didn’t think it would be that easy for me. The

power I held over people while death was knocking resonated with me. I looked forward to

blood leaking and the pleas that came along with it. That was how I was built, manufactured that way by my reality. I was willing to give this new life a chance, but as soon as I needed to feed the beast, I was going hunting.

The night was coming to an end. I couldn’t wait to have my dick in Gina’s butt as she

drained me dry.

“Shai, you need to get home. Don’t you have your big test tomorrow?” Gina brought me out of my sexual thoughts of her.

“You didn’t tell me you chose a date, bro’.” Mega looked at me, confused.

“I didn’t want to take your shine. It’s no biggie.” It was only a test. If I passed, I passed. If not, I was cool with that, too. I looked at Gina, shaking my head.

“My bad.” Gina was sincere, but I was going to have to teach her to keep her mouth closed.

I was set to take the New Jersey Real Estate Exam the following morning. School had never been my thing, but I was trying. The course wasn’t bad, and all I saw was dollar signs, so that motivated me to really pay attention. I even started looking at houses in Paterson that I could fix up and sell. That was where I was going to start, and once I got my feet wet, I was going to branch off into larger homes where the White people spent money.

“Make it up to me later.” My eyes told Gina all she needed to know.

“Ewww… Bye.” Mona rolled her eyes, giving Gina a hug. We were saying our goodbyes

while waiting for our cars to pull up.

“Call me as soon as you done taking the test.” Mega and I embraced. “I’m proud of you.”

The feeling was mutual.

Vroom! Vroom! Skrt!

Red, white, and blue lights flashed as six black, unmarked cars surrounded us. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but my hand was on my gun just in case. They looked to be cops, so I had to play this right. My heart was racing. I wasn’t scared; I just needed to know what the deal was. They all seemed to get out of the cars at the same time. Badges were around their necks. They rushed toward all of us. They made their way right to me, hands on their weapons. The leader of the pack held up a paper. From a quick glance, it looked like a warrant.

“Are you A’shai Blaze?” I looked this dude up and down as he asked a question he already knew the answer to.

“It depends on who’s asking,” I spat with fire.

“Detective Montez Dawkins, and behind me is my team. We have a warrant for your arrest for the disappearance of Julius Rivers.”

I wasn’t sure who he was talking about until he turned to Mona and continued. “Ms. Sutton, we have now found our suspect and are closer to finding out what happened to the Maurizio Contini painting.”

Turning back to me, he said, “We were wondering how the painting went missing until we figured out that the security guard was missing. Your blood puts you at the scene.” Detective Dawkins was very confident in what he was saying.

My lawyer would have to do the talking for me. I put my hands behind my back to make it easy for them. I looked to Mega as a crowd started to gather to see what was happening. He

already knew what time it was. We planned for shit like this. What had me tripping was

wondering where I went wrong. I always covered my tracks. Shit didn’t make sense. I had time to add all this shit up while I awaited my fate.
