Brandon Phillips is a black man trying to make it in America. When his relationship with his fiancé Ciara falls apart, he decides to take a leap of faith and buy a condominium in "The Raven," a high-rise building in the heart of Montclair, NJ.
 
Brandon immediately is reminded that his skin color still holds more weight than his accomplishments. Unfortunately, he has moved onto the floor of a racist, narcissistic, and egotistical detective Mark Stephens who does not follow the same laws that he enforces.
